Esports players have seen some outrageous payouts over the last 20 years. While the overall size of a prize pool doesn’t determine the prestige of an event, it’s quite clearly one of the major factors players use to determine whether they’ll show up. The first esports prize was given away in 1997 when Dennis “Thresh” Fong won Quake developer John Carmac’s red Ferrari 328. In 2006, Johan “Toxjq” Quick won a Rolex from the WSVG Quake 4 championship.

Riftbound is a lot of fun. Riot’s new physical trading game is everything I could ask for and more as a League of Legends fan boy. But while some of us are having a blast playing the game, others have something else on their mind. If you want to bag the rarest cards from Origins—Riftbound’s first set—you’ll need to spend a lot of money. On the flipside, now could be a good time to sell your most prized cards and make some bank in time for the next set.

Riftbound, Riot’s new League of Legends trading card game, already has a ton of buzz. While some players are still frantically buying booster packs from the first set, others are eagerly anticipating the next one. Spiritbound introduces 200 new cards, including champions like Ezreal, Lucian, and Rumble. It releases in China soon, but the English version isn’t far behind.
