1 Introduction Rhinovirus is a common cause of acute respiratory tract illnesses and upper respiratory tract infections [1]. Rhinovirus has been detected in nearly 25% of children admitted to hospital and pediatric intensive care units [2, 3]. There is a significant societal impact of rhinovirus infections owing to disruptions in social interactions, decreases in productivity, and absenteeism from work or school [4].
