HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Above the city of Huntsville sits Monte Sano State Park. Since the 1930s, the lush and natural beauty has attracted visitors to the area. Zachary Heard, the park manager, says the park was one of the original state parks here in Alabama. Carved within the rocks and stones lies the history of the park. “The Civilian Conservation Corps was a program that put people back to work after the Great Depression,” said Heard.
