A massive fireworks display is planned for Saturday night in the District as the nation celebrates 250 years of independence on Fourth of July. President Donald Trump has said this year’s fireworks will be the “LARGEST FIREWORKS SHOW IN HISTORY.” Trump will speak at 9:45 p.m., and the fireworks show will start at 10:30 p.m. and last about 40 minutes, according to Freedom 250. The show will feature 850,000 fireworks shells launched from 10 sites.

A patriotic performance is set to take place outside of the U.S. Capitol Friday night to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary of independence this July Fourth. A Capitol Fourth: 250th Weekend Celebration is set to kick off on the west lawn of the Capitol at 8 p.m. on Friday night. Performers include Patti LaBelle, Trace Adkins, Carly Pearce and Chicago, according to organizers. Members of the U.S. military are also expected to perform as parts of bands and choirs.

Maryland looks to bring down cost of utility bills

Thousands of Marylanders could soon see lower utility bills, thanks to an expansion of the state’s energy assistance program. Maryland is expanding benefits offered through the state’s energy assistance programs, a move aimed at lowering utility bills as energy costs strain some households, according to a Thursday news release from Gov. Wes Moore’s office. Low-income households are expected to see the largest savings.
