CLEVELAND — Memorial Day is pitched to us as the "Unofficial Start of Summer." Officially, summer begins on Sunday, June 21, at 4:24 a.m., for the record. Still, a lot of folks look forward to Memorial Day weekend and kicking off a lot of those summer time activities. And the morning fog we saw in Northeast Ohio wasn’t exactly welcome to start Memorial Day. Fog was slow to clear for many, but we'll end up near average through the afternoon. Highs in the 70s away from the lakeshore.

April showers linger into May, helping prevent drought in Ohio

CLEVELAND — April showers have been outstaying their welcome. We’ve already got the May flowers going for many areas, but the rain is really lingering into the new month. We’ve kept a very active pattern for the first stretch of the month. Cleveland Hopkins has recorded at least a trace every day except for the 3rd and 7th. Rain has added up to 2.18” through the 10th. May 5 had .96” recorded, that’s more than any single day in April.

CLEVELAND — Did you enjoy April? Temperatures were deceptively warm! It felt like a little taste of warmer months to come. As you might expect, plenty of April Showers also. The month ended .49” above average for precipitation. Temperatures started above average and mostly stayed that way. There were a few notable exceptions, which seemed to fall on or near the weekend. We spent much of the month running 5° above average.
