1 Introduction The plant genus Vitis includes many species that are cultivated worldwide; however, global production is largely focused on Vitis vinifera, which is preferred for its superior quality in wine production compared to other species such as Vitis labrusca, commonly used for producing less-refined table wines (Dal Santo et al. 2016; Torregrosa et al. 2015). The southern region of Brazil produces most of the country's grapes for wine production.
