Graphene oxide-polydopamine membranes with controlled interlayer spacing
Abstract Stacked graphene oxide membranes (GOMs) show exceptional capabilities for high-throughput sieving of water, ions and molecules, offering transformative potential in environmental and energy sectors1,2,3,4,5. However, achieving GOMs with subnanometre interlayer spacing and subangstrom tunability while maintaining their structural robustness for rapid and selective ion transport remains a big challenge6,7,8.
Molecular mechanisms of KMT2C alterations in gastrointestinal cancers: enhancer network destabilization, lineage plasticity, and clinical translation
Abstract KMT2C (lysine methyltransferase 2C), also known as mixed-lineage leukemia 3 (MLL3), is a member of the KMT2 family of histone methyltransferases that catalyzes histone H3 lysine 4 monomethylation (H3K4me1), a hallmark of active enhancer elements.
Blockade of NKp46⁻ CCR6⁻ ILC3 autophagy protects against necrotizing enterocolitis by restoring energy metabolism balance in mice
Abstract Group 3 innate lymphoid cells (ILC3) are crucial in neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC); however, the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here, we identify NKp46⁻CCR6⁻ (double-negative, DN) ILC3s as the dominant pathogenic subset driving NEC via IL-17 A secretion, which disrupts intestinal barrier integrity. Mechanistically, Atg5 activates autophagy in DN ILC3s during NEC. Atg5 conditional knockout in RORγt⁺ cells mitigates NEC, reduces DN ILC3 accumulation and IL-17 A production.
Inverse sky islands: lowland river valleys drive microbial divergence while high elevations select for convergence in massive mountain ecosystems
Introduction Mountains have long captivated scientists with their extraordinary biodiversity, presenting what has been termed Humboldt's enigma (Lomolino 2001, McCain and Grytnes 2010). As Earth's most prominent biodiversity hotspots, mountains cover approximately 25% of the planet's terrestrial surface yet harbor disproportionately high species richness, including 85% of amphibian, bird, and mammal species and 33% of vascular plant species (Rahbek et al. 2019).

Case Report: Early infantile drug-resistant epilepsy and gastrointestinal dysmotility associated with a de novo GNAO1 variant and a 16p13.11 microdeletion
Abstract Background: The GNAO1 gene is located on the long arm of chromosome 16 (16q13) and is associated with Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy 17. It encodes a protein involved in regulating various neurotransmitters and neuronal growth and development. The 16p13.11 microdeletion is a genomic deletion in the p13.11 region of the short arm of chromosome 16, previously reported to predispose individuals to neurodevelopmental disorders.
Asymmetric selection of a rice immune module and rebuild of disease resistance
|
Abstract Artificial selection has greatly shaped crop agronomic traits1,2,3; however, the mechanistic basis of how immunity is selected remains unclear. Here we identify the Oryza sativa nucleotide-binding site and leucine-rich repeat (NLR) receptor XA48 and downstream transcription factors OsVOZ1 and OsVOZ2 (OsVOZ1/2), which confer resistance to bacterial blight. XA48 perceives the ancient pathogen effector XopG, activating effector-triggered immunity by degrading the negative regulator OsVOZ1/2.

Case Report: Subacute combined degeneration misdiagnosed as a primary affective disorder: diagnostic pitfalls and clinical red flags
Abstract Background: Subacute combined degeneration (SCD) of the spinal cord is a progressive neurological disorder caused by vitamin B12 deficiency. When initial symptoms present as nonspecific fatigue, dizziness, and affective distress, the condition is frequently misattributed to primary psychiatric disorders. This “diagnostic overshadowing” leads to critical delays in administering definitive therapy, risking irreversible axonal damage.

General partial synchronization of Boolean control networks under nonuniform sampled‐data feedback control
In this paper, the nonuniform sampled-data feedback control (NSDFC) is introduced to achieve the general partial synchronization (GPS) of drive-response Boolean control networks (BCNs). Firstly, using the Hamming distance between two Boolean vectors, a formal definition of the GPS with at least p $$ p $$ synchronized nodes is proposed.
Protein and Peptide‐Based Strategies for Advanced Cryopreservation
Cryopreservation effectively halts biological metabolism, placing living specimens in a state of ‘suspended animation’ for future revival. As a foundational technology for cell-based biomedicine, cryopreservation relies on cryoprotectants (CPAs) to mitigate freezing-induced damage, such as ice formation, protein denaturation, and oxidative stress.

Single-chain ultrasmall fluorescent polymer dots enable nanometre-resolution cellular imaging and single protein tracking - Nature Photonics
Abstract Fluorescent nanoparticles offer superior brightness and photostability compared with conventional dyes and proteins. However, their relatively large size and complex surface chemistry limit their utility for imaging nanoscale biostructures and tracking individual proteins in living cells. Here we develop single-chain ultrasmall fluorescent polymer dots (suPdots) with size below 5 nm, comparable to fluorescent proteins.

The tricyclic antidepressant cyproheptadine rescues egg-laying defect of grk-2 mutants
Abstract Serotonin regulates egg-laying by activating vulva muscle contraction. Its oxidization metabolite 5-HIAA inhibits vulva muscle contraction. The loss-of-function mutants of grk-2 have strong egg-laying defects because they have serotonin depletion and high level of 5-HIAA. The experiment results show that 5-HIAA function depends on 5-HT1/HT2 receptor SER-1. The egg-laying inhibition can be completely reverted by loss-of-function goa-1, the Go homolog in C. elegans.
