Jim Cobb’s Biography

Editor in Chief for Backwoods Survival Guide magazine and formerly for now on hiatus Prepper Survival Guide magazine. I've contributed to most of the other publications in the prepper/outdoor niche, including Gear Junkie, Tactical Knives, American Survival Guide, Survivor's Edge, Field & Stream, Backwoodsman, and Knives Illustrated. I've also written about 15 books, with more on the way.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Simple and brief. Just a working title and a few sentences about what you're going to cover. I'll ask if I need more info than that.

Why did you become a journalist?

I started out doing books and found that magazine work was a great way to get my name out there as well as build a level of authority.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Nope. Honestly, I don't think we even had a school newspaper.
