Former Northland United Swim Coach Suspended By USA Swimming For Sexual Harassment
Mike Ballard, who previously served as the head coach of the Northland United Swim Team in Parkville, Mo., has been suspended by USA Swimming and the U.S. Center for SafeSport for sexual harassment. He is listed with the following misconduct: “Inappropriate Conduct; Sexual Harassment; Violated NGB policies/bylaws” (Subject to appeal/not yet final). He also has “Education, Probation, No Contact Directive(s)” sanctions in his SafeSport listing.

Mission Viejo Nadadores Closing 360 Performance Center, Jeff Julian Moving On From Program
The Mission Viejo Nadadores are closing their 360 Performance Center, the club’s post-grad/pro group, head coach Jeff Julian announced on Thursday. Julian said as part of the decision to eliminate the pro group, his time with the organization has come to an end. “I cannot express enough what an honor it was to work with the incredible athletes who trusted us with their goals and their careers,” Julian wrote on Instagram.
North Texas Nadadores Add Former Arizona Head Coach Augie Busch To Staff
The North Texas Nadadores (NTN) have hired Augie Busch to its coaching staff, head coach Scott Talbot has confirmed to SwimSwam. Busch, the longtime University of Arizona head coach, will become one of the club’s new Lead Coaches, where he’ll work with swimmers from the Developmental Groups to the Senior level. “The North Texas Nadadores are excited to welcome Augie Busch to our talented coaching staff,” Talbot said.

Former Michigan State Swimmer, Germantown Academy Coach Suspended By USA Swimming
Colleen Kohm, a former Michigan State swimmer and coach with the Germantown Academy Aquatic Club, has been suspended by USA Swimming on an interim basis. Kohm, based out of Cary, N.C., was issued a suspension on September 2, listed with the following misconduct: “Abuse of Process; Bullying; Emotional Misconduct” (Subject to appeal/not yet final). She also appears in the U.S. Center for SafeSport disciplinary database with “Probation, No Contact Directive(s), Education” sanctions.
YMCA of the Triangle Area Moves On From Coach Jamie Bloom, Senior 1 Group “Disbanding” Amid Restructuring
YMCA of the Triangle Area (YOTA) Swim Team has moved on from coach Jamie Bloom and announced a restructuring of its Senior 1 Groups, consolidating the Chapel Hill and Raleigh groups to Raleigh. YOTA is a multi-site club based in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Triangle region of North Carolina. Last week, the club’s first day of practice was scheduled for Monday, August 31, after a week of team building events.
USA Swimming Reports Attendance Numbers For 2026 Nationals & Pan Pacs In Irvine
USA Swimming has released the attendance numbers for the 2026 U.S. National Championships and 2026 Pan Pacific Championships, which were held just two weeks apart at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine, California in late July and mid-August. As reported by Rich Perelman of The Sports Examiner, Nationals had a total attendance of 18,701, which factors in swimmers, coaches and spectators across five days of competition, with two sessions per day.

USA Swimming Names 101 Swimmers To 2026-27 National Team Roster
USA Swimming unveiled its 2026-27 National Team roster on Tuesday, with 101 swimmers earning a spot based on their performances during the 2025-26 season. Specifically, USA Swimming selected the top six swimmers in the 100 and 200 freestyle, and the top five swimmers in every other individual Olympic event, based on results from September 1, 2025, until August 31, 2026. They also named six women and six men to the team in the open water category based on criteria you can find here.
Kevin Donnelly, Former NC & VA Swim Coach, Suspended By USA Swimming For Sexual Misconduct
Kevin Donnelly, a former swimmer and coach with the Marlins of Raleigh, has been permanently suspended by USA Swimming for sexual misconduct. Donnelly, 29, was initially suspended on June 25 with the distinction that the case was subject to appeal and not yet final, but on Thursday, his status was updated to a permanent suspension from USA Swimming.
Singaporean Swim Coach Receives Jail Sentence For Child Molestation
A Singaporean swim coach has been sentenced to two years in jail and three “strokes of the cane” for molesting a 10-year-old girl three times over a one-month period in 2023. Quek Yeong Kang, 49, who also goes by Alex, claimed trial to three charges of molestation, alleging that the swimmer complained about him in order to change coaches.

Court Grants NCAA Stay Of Injunction In Tennessee Eligibility Case
The NCAA earned another small victory in court on Wednesday, as the Tennessee Court of Appeals granted the league’s motion to stay an injunction in an eligibility case. The case involves 19 college basketball players who were seeking an additional season of eligibility as members of the high school class of 2022. Now, those players, headlined by named plaintiff Jalen Washington, are no longer eligible to compete this season.

Former Florida Tech Swimmer Receives Formal Suspension From SafeSport
A former Florida Tech swimmer who was given a temporary suspension in December 2024 amid allegations of misconduct has now received a formal sanction from the U.S. Center for SafeSport. In SafeSport’s weekly sanction and arbitration decision update issued on Tuesday, Elias Econopouly‘s misconduct status has been updated to “Criminal Disposition – involving Minors,” and “Criminal Disposition – Sexual Misconduct,” noting that its subject to appeal and not yet final.

Autopsy Reveals Cause of Death For Former NC State Swimmer & Coach Jack Roney
An autopsy has ruled the death of former NC State swimmer and coach Jack Roney an accidental drowning. Roney died on July 5 at the age of 39, and initially no cause of death was given by the family. According to the Charlotte Observer, the N.C. Chief Medical Examiner’s Office later ruled the death an accidental drowning, and the Observer also obtained a copy of the autopsy and investigative report that shed more lights on the details of what occurred that evening.
