1. Introduction Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is a hydrolase enzyme found primarily in the postsynaptic neuromuscular junction and responsible for hydrolyzing the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (Ach) into acetic acid and choline [1]. Ach binds to muscarinic receptors on the postsynaptic neuron, which activates an intracellular G-protein-coupled receptor and leads to the dephosphorylation of guanosine triphosphate into its diphosphate form.
