Sun Herald — Hours after the city manager announced he's resigning, voters were split between incumbent Mayor Tommy Schafer and challenger Ernie Knobloch by only four votes. Schafer won 930 votes. Knobloch garnered 934. John "Red Socks" Fletcher got 116 votes. Schafer and Knobloch will go into a runoff May 16.
