To the Editor: I am proud to support Barbara Labriola for State Representative of the 23rd District. Barbara and I share a strong belief in the values that make our community such a wonderful place to live. We have a high regard for efficient, effective, and functional government; high-performing schools; a deep respect for our natural resources; public safety; a vibrant business community; and, ultimately, a great quality of life for all.

One issue on the minds of many people is retirement, particularly whether one will be able to retire comfortably in Connecticut or have to move in order to stretch each dollar further. Devin Carney understands this predicament and has worked tirelessly to make Connecticut a better state for seniors and retirees. Devin proposed – and passed – reducing taxes on pensions and IRAs for many people.
