Boy, 3, hurled into croc enclosure in suspected attempted murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a ‌three-year-old boy ended up in a crocodile enclosure at a ‌zoo in central England resulting in him ‌sustaining critical injuries, police say. Cambridgeshire Police said officers were called following reports of an incident at Johnsons of Old Hurst, a zoo near Huntingdon which resulted in ‌the boy ‌being in ⁠the enclosure.

Coral adaptation on Great Barrier Reef possible - ABC listen

By the end of the century the Great Barrier Reef may have less than 20 per cent of its system covered in coral, if waters warm beyond two degrees. It's a dire prediction, but marine researchers say they've proven that coral can adapt to hotter temperatures, perhaps just not in many of our lifetimes. Tourism operators along the reef are looking at the much more immediate forecast of a hot summer, which is threatening to bring another marine heat wave.

Modern slavery increasing in NSW

The New South Wales Anti-Slavery Commissioner says the number of people who've reported being victims of modern slavery activity in the state has risen by 116 per cent since last financial year. State and Territory Workplace Relations Ministers are meeting to discuss labour hire reforms. The Commissioner is urging the group to agree on a national scheme to crack down on dodgy companies.
