HHV-6B encephalitis is a rare but severe complication after allogeneic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). To date, antiviral therapy has not been able to prevent high mortality and persisting neurological symptoms among survivors [1]. Although several risk factors have been identified implementation of effective preventive strategies is not yet possible [1].
