Montana Can Stop the Next Opioid Wave
Think it won’t happen in Montana … since 2020, 29 people have died from Kratom concentrates in Montana. On July 29, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration urged the DEA to schedule 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH), a powerful opioid now sold in vape shops, convenience stores, and online. This action does not target natural kratom leaf, but rather concentrated 7-OH products – often disguised as gummies, powders, or “enhanced” kratom.

Montana Pharmacy Protection Act Original
This legislative session, Rep. Marta Bertoglio introduced House Bill 740 to help Montana’s pharmacies stand up to pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs). Decades ago, these industry giants started filling a legitimate need in the processing and negotiating of prescription drug insurance benefits. However, they quickly grew and consolidated into some of the largest corporations in the United States, and now just a few PBMs control virtually the entire drug benefits market.
Jodee Etchart: Montanans are not for sale, those who prey on our citizens will be prosecuted
Human trafficking cases in Montana are on the rise. In 2022 Montana’s Department of Justice human trafficking investigators saw a 300% increase in cases over the prior year. Even more staggeringly, they’ve seen an 871% increase since 2015.

Montana Republicans expanded access to affordable health care
The United States’s health care system is a mess of complex regulations and layers of bureaucracy. It’s also expensive. But Republicans in the Montana Legislature have made great strides in recent years to address what problems we can at the state level. We’ve emphasized improving health care by giving Montanans more options, reducing regulations and giving doctors more freedom to practice medicine.
