Q. I discovered that I have vestibular migraines, causing dizziness. Chocolate and shrimp are my triggers. I’ve had dizzy spells on about the same frequency annually all my adult life. When I added one square of dark chocolate into my daily diet, I experienced a dizzy spell lasting two weeks. I stopped eating chocolate of any kind two years ago, and no more dizzies! Then, I made a big shrimp dish and ate the leftovers for three days. That triggered another lesser event.

Terry and I work a lot of hours. We create 2 newsletters each week and then there is our radio show. The People’s Pharmacy is heard on over 200 NPR stations/repeaters. There is a lot of work that goes into creating a nationally syndicated show and podcast. We also write newspaper columns for readers across the country. All that means we spend way too much time in front of a computer. The highlight of our day is taking our wonderful pooch Lulu on lots of walks.

The Food and Drug Administration approved a brand-new cholesterol pill on July 16, 2026. This medicine is a PCSK9 inhibitor. Unlike its comrades, alirocumab (Praluent) and evolocumab (Repatha), it is taken by mouth rather than injected. Judging from the headlines, you might think cardiologists had just discovered how to prevent heart attacks once and for all.
