OLD FORGE, Pa. — Federal prosecutors accused a Lackawanna County man of stealing more than $2 million worth of telecommunications equipment from his employer and hawking the loot to third-party resellers. John Festino, of Old Forge, agreed to plead guilty in federal court to a count of unlawful monetary transactions, according to a plea agreement signed last week by U.S. Attorney Brian Miller. Man shot in Northumberland County

An 18-year-old man was jailed in Northumberland County for shooting another man in the abdomen Sunday after an argument at a home near Paxinos, state police said Monday. Ryan Costa, of Danville, was awaiting arraignment on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person. The victim, Kyle Kent, 46, was hospitalized and was expected to recover from the gunshot wound to his abdomen and his hand.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — A federal jury in Lycoming County awarded a woman nearly $3 million in damages following a trial earlier this month centered on the sexual abuse inflicted on her by a former Loyalsock Township School District employee while she was in middle school. After a seven-day civil trial in federal court, jurors on Tuesday unanimously found that the district was liable for the harm caused by former middle school basketball coach Kelli Vassallo in the early 2010s.
