Province funding public safety through fire service grant

By Jun 3, 2024 | 11:27 AM LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta is supporting new research initiatives in order to strengthen public safety in municipalities. Aside from fighting fires, municipal firefighters are often the first to respond to medical emergencies and other disasters, and also educate the public about fire safety and prevention. To help with the work needed, the government is funding $700,000 to municipalities and the Alberta Fire Chiefs Association for research and training.

Name unveiled for new west Lethbridge school

By May 30, 2024 | 11:31 AM LETHBRIDGE, AB – The new elementary school in west Lethbridge has been named. The Lethbridge School Division received over 30 name submissions from members of the public, and a committee of staff, students, parents and more provided recommendations to the Board of Trustees. The division has selected the name “West Coulee Station Elementary School”, referencing the rolling coulees in the city.

Todd Carter, mosquito technician for the City of Lethbridge Parks and Cemeteries department is responsible for mitigating the mosquito larvae before they become fully-grown. “We like to get out following a rainfall,” Carter says.
