Joey Gill

Over a decade of experience in radio, television, and social media with an emphasis on digital, plus more than two years with website development and design.

I am currently about 2 1/2 years removed from the news industry as a Web Developer with the University of South Carolina Aiken. As the lone Web Developer on campus, I helped the university undergo the largest website relaunch to date, and through the largest marketing rebrand in the university's history. Previously, I was a Digital Producer with WJBF-TV, the ABC affiliate in Augusta, GA. I did the same role with WJZY-TV, the FOX affiliate in Charlotte, NC; and WKRN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Nashville, TN. My job responsibilities include finding and producing new and compelling content for digital platforms.

Before that, I was a Multimedia/Digital Producer at WSMV-TV, the NBC affiliate in Nashville, TN. In addition to creating and innovating new digital content daily for WSMV.com and the News4 App, I also worked as an assignment editor on the newsroom's content hub and assisted in other areas such as some light production work and traffic producing.

Before WSMV, I worked as a Digital Producer with the USA TODAY Network, a Gannett company. It was here that I curated homepages, assisted in breaking news, and provided support to nearly 40 newspapers in small-to-medium-sized markets in the eastern half of the country. I also worked on special project such as hurricane coverage, and I am proud to say some of my work has been picked up by USA TODAY.

Before Gannett, I was a Digital Content Manager for WRDW-TV and WAGT-TV in Augusta, GA. My responsibilities included driving traffic to the website and to newscasts through engaging social media content. I started the station's first Facebook Live broadcast, and since then they have grown and continue to grow outperforming market competition in reach and engagement daily on digital platforms.

I also worked for nearly 3 years in the radio industry with two competing media conglomerates in Augusta, GA, iHeartMedia and Beasley Media Group.

My strengths are social media, media research and analytics, writing, technology, frontend web development and user interface design. My weaknesses are math and sweets (I can't resist).

I strongly believe we never stop learning, and I also firmly believe in radiating positivity because life is too short not to see the bright side of things.
