Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, but that was a long time ago before computers came in.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It's great, you get to see history as it happens. It means you get to tell the story for future generations.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Send an email, but better yet, call me up directly at the office.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Heck, what don't I use these days? (Typewriters)
Who do you wish followed you?
Nancy O'Dell of Entertainment Tonight, that would be so cool -- and unexpected.
Why did you become a journalist?
Pretty much because there was nothing else I was good at, plus I have been a media junkie since I was a kid.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No -- not until university. Spent most of high school keeping my grades up so that I could get into a university!
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Probably the Dagenais murder trial in Saskatoon. Memorable case, dramatic in all kinds of ways. But I'm also proud of my political stories.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Don't do it! (Just joking.)
When's the best time to pitch you?
During regular business hours, a few days in advance of when you want the story done.
