It’s almost that time of year when spotted lanternflies take over the DMV. The invasive insect first appeared in our area a couple of years ago, and experts say their population is only growing. Right now, spotted lanternflies are in the ‘nymph’ stage. They're small and can cling to plants. Lanternflies won’t grow into full adults until about July, and that’s when you’ll notice them. Experts say these invasive bugs are harmful to native plants, and now’s the time to get rid of as many as you can.
