Sir Ben Kingsley is one of the most acclaimed and prolific stage, film, and television actors of his generation, with a career spanning more than five decades. He won an Oscar for Best Actor for his role in Gandhi (1982). Kingsley appears in the comedy The Thursday Murder Club, out now on Netflix. This interview was conducted on July 4. I find it easy to relax. I think confidence has an awful lot to do with it, and a certain degree of accomplishment. I don’t mean that in a pompous sense.

Naomi Girma says it’s cold in London. Not that she really seems to mind. “I’ve loved it so far,” she says of her recent arrival in the UK. “There was a lot of buildup and anticipation, so just getting to be in training, around the team—I’ve loved every part of it. Minus the cold!” She’s laughing, and absolutely beaming through a computer screen on a Zoom call.
