Keep going, Alani Bankhead
Dear Alani Bankhead, After reading Carol Williams letter to the Democratic Party, don't drop out. The pompousness and self righteousness of her letter is nauseating. Who cares if you're not properly funded? Who cares if a DC handpicked candidate in Bodnar has more money? The only people that care about that are party operators and people who stand to make lots of money from you dropping out.
Mammoth rebuilding project puts Utah in playoffs in team's second season since moving from Arizona
Utah's rebuilding process began in the Arizona desert, where the team was known as the Coyotes and progress was incremental. In the first year after a move to Salt Lake City, the team became the Utah Hockey Club and took a bigger step, winning eight more games than the previous season to inch closer to the NHL playoffs. kAm}@H <?@H? 2D E96 |2>>@E9[ E96 J@F?8 A=2J6CD H9@ D6CG65 2D E96 C63F:=5 7@F?52E:@? 92G6 56G6=@A65 :?E@ 2 D<:==65[ 4@96D:G6 F?:E E92EVD C624965 E96 A@DED62D@? 7@C E96 7:CDE E:>6 :?
Lauren Betts used lessons learned to lead UCLA to its 1st NCAA national championship
PHOENIX (AP) — Lauren Betts forced herself to repeatedly watch last season's Final Four debacle against UConn, using the lessons learned in this year's return trip to the national semifinals. The two-time All-American did her homework following a season-low points in UCLA's only loss of the season, applying what she gleaned from the game film to help take down Texas in the rematch.
Bigger and better: Women's Final Four teams filled with multi-talented frontcourt players
PHOENIX (AP) — Madison Booker has a midrange jumper that's almost unblockable, beats defenders off the dribble, plays in the post when she wants, shoots the 3 if she needs to. The Texas junior has great court vision, is an adept passer and is a menace defensively, bullying smaller guards on the ball, jumping into passing lanes off it. kAmw25 :E 366? 2? 62C=:6C 6C2 :? Brooks Koepka and Scottie Scheffler ready to embrace the chaos at the wild Phoenix Open
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Brooks Koepka felt comfortable in his return to the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines last week, despite his putter not always cooperating. The five-time major champion's second start should be even cozier, even as up to 200,000 fans cram onto TPC Scottsdale's Stadium Course. kAm$F446DD 2E E96 H6E W2D :? 3@@K6\D@2<65X 2?5 H:=5 !9@6?:I ~A6? PHOENIX (AP) — Jalen Smith scored his second touchdown on a diving 12-yard catch in the first overtime and Minnesota extended its postseason winning streak to nine games with a 20-17 win over New Mexico in the Rate Bowl on Friday. A year after Kansas State beat Rutgers 44-41 in the Rate Bowl, the 2025 version turned defensive in the desert — until a flurry early in the fourth quarter. kAm|:??6D@E2 Wg\dX H6?E FA `c\e H96? s2C:FD %2J=@C D4@C65 @?
Letter to the editor: Montana GOP is more con artist than conservative
Thank you, Bozeman Chronicle, for reporting on our state Republican Party’s attempt at greater purity to the party. Being a student of history I can't help but see the similarities between this movement today in Montana, and one that took place in a distant land, several generations ago. There and then the rallying cry was, “Wir werden die Partei rein machen!”. Translation: We will make the party pure, from the NSDAP, the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei.
NASCAR driver Kyle Busch sues insurance company for $8.5 million, alleging deceptive practices
AVONDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Kyle Busch bought what he thought was a safe life insurance plan that would provide self-funding income for his retirement. When Pacific Life Insurance Company sent a sixth premium notice on what was supposed to be a five-year payment plan — and most of the money he invested was gone — the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion knew something was wrong. kAm“x H2D =:<6[ H2:E 2 D64@?5[ H92E 2> x 86EE:?8 2 D:IE9\J62C AC6>:F> A2J>6?E 7@Cn” qFD49 D2:5 7C@> !9@6?:I #246H2J @?

The Engine: Alyssa Thomas driving new-look Phoenix Mercury near the top of WNBA standings
PHOENIX (AP) — A marketing panel with Castrol landed Alyssa Thomas on a NASCAR hood. While attending the panel at the WNBA All-Star game last month, Thomas was approached by the motor oil company about putting her image on a NASCAR for an upcoming race. The Phoenix Mercury star loved the idea and helped in the design process, leading to her face making a 168-lap trip around Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the hood of RFK Racing’s No. 60 Castrol Ford, driven by Ryan Preece.

PHOENIX (AP) — Michael Lorenzen struck out seven in seven dominant innings, Bobby Witt Jr. homered and the Kansas City Royals beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-0 on Sunday. SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Texas won the national title that eluded its current seniors three years ago. No tornadoes, no letdowns, just one clutch shot after another. Travis Vick two-putted from 30 feet on the 18th hole to beat Cameron Sisk and Texas won its fourth national championship by holding off Arizona State's late charge for a 3-2 victory Wednesday. “Everything has meaning and the adversity we faced only made us stronger,” Texas senior Parker Coody said.
PHOENIX (AP) — The Phoenix Mercury open the season at home Friday night against the Las Vegas Aces. One player who won't be on the bench will be prominently on everyone's minds: Brittney Griner. As the Mercury and the rest of WNBA move forward in the 2022 season, Griner is nearing the three-month mark of her detention in Russia, with no timetable for her release. “We think about her every day,” Mercury guard Skylar Diggins-Smith said recently.
