LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - As expected it was a hot and sunny Father’s Day on the South Plains. In Lubbock the high temperature soared to 106 degrees, just two degrees short of the record on this date in 2023. Most of the region also reported afternoon maximum temperatures above 100 degrees. The cooler areas, at or below 100 degrees, were located in the northeast areas of the region.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Heat returned to the South Plains with a high of 96 degrees in Lubbock on Saturday. So, it seems only appropriate that the first day of summer, Sunday, will feature afternoon temperatures at or above 100 for the region. Sunday is the first day of summer, and we're expecting temperatures at or above 100.(John Robison | KCBD Graphic) Looks like indoor dining may be a good idea for Dad, or a patio with some air flow.
