Crane conservation coalition raising money to replace nest camera destroyed by wind storm

After capturing the arrival of two sandhill crane chicks on the Crane Nest Cam this spring, the Colorado Crane Conservation Coalition had plenty to celebrate before strong winds in late May toppled the tree that held its camera. “The first year of the nest camera they had a pole installed, but it wasn’t where the cranes ended up nesting in future years. So, they moved it to this tree, and the whole tree got taken down by these winds,” said Megan Karschner, executive director of the Coalition.

Steamboat Springs Rotarians honored at district conference in Fort Collins

Local Rotarians Debbie Aragon and Todd Carr were recognized at the 2026 Rotary District 5440 conference, which was held in Fort Collins June 5-7. District 5440 is one of Rotary’s largest districts, encompassing 2,500 Rotarians from 53 clubs in Wyoming, Northern Colorado, Nebraska, and one club from Idaho.
