Royals fans will get a heaping dose of Rex Hudler on game broadcasts this week

You can’t help but love Royals television announcer Rex Hudler. Some Royals fans have been clamoring for Rex Hudler to work more games as an analyst for the team’s broadcasts. They will get their wish to start the month. Hudler, who worked this past weekend’s Royals-Rangers series in Texas with Ryan Lefebvre, will be on the call on six of Kansas City’s seven games this week.

Merry Christmas, Kansans — or should I say the Whos in Whoville? We are finally getting a major professional sports team. To quote my baby sister, “We got just what we wanted, but there was that one thing.” Isn’t there always just that one more thing that we want? In this case, we all know that’s the Royals — but it doesn’t stop there. We need to seriously talk about overuse of the state’s STAR bonds. Yes, I am feeling particularly Grinchy this year.

Jorge Bonifacio’s last Major League Baseball game was on Aug. 31, 2021, when he helped the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Washington Nationals. But Bonfiacio, who was in the Royals organization for 10 years — including three seasons in Kansas City, is still playing the game. He was in the Phillies minor-league system in 2022, then was with the Royals’ Double-A team the following season.
