Blog According to data published recently by the WTO, the proportion of global trade conducted under most-favoured nation (MFN) terms fell from approximately 80% at the beginning of 2025 to 72% by February 2026[i]. This blog attempts to break down the interpretation of this for African exporters, and to propose several strategies African exporting countries could use to counter negative fallout. African exporters appear to face a strong sectoral divide in the usefulness of preferences.
