More than 230 million people turn to ChatGPT to ask questions related to health and wellness each week. Meanwhile are exploring the use of AI in their practices, and the large language model Claude for Healthcare, rolled out in January, is poised to transform medical billing. 49 Degrees North Spotlight
Hello and welcome to the 49 Degrees North Spotlight, a look back at classic episodes from the 49 Degrees North writers podcast about Canadian writers and the business of writing. In this episode, I spoke with TV writer Jennifer Siddle about first-jobs, breaking into the industry, and her epic web-series Plaid Men (the lost – and perhaps, best – season of Mad Men). It’s a good reminder to be more proactive about your career, and not simply wait for gatekeepers to make decisions.
Babergh leader John Ward responds to latest Rowland Taylor's Ghost column - and he is not best pleased
It's been a while since we heard from resident spooky friend so I was quite looking forward to reading the latest missive from RTG. It was a surprisingly, although possibly unintentional, seasonal nod to Charles Dickens as RTG took on the mantle of the Spirit of Christmas to Come, with Babergh in the role of Scrooge. See RTG's controversial column here...

European banks lead US and Asia-Pacific counterparts in overall ESG activity but need to do more on D&I agenda
UK, France, Spain and Italy all score above 9.0 for their compensation policies – with Germany lagging on 6.7. Germany also comes last on ‘ESG Governance’ (6.2), largely due to its relatively narrow ESG reporting scope, fewer banks undertaking ESG-related audits, and fewer banks linking board compensation to ESG targets.
John Ward dissects Hadleigh Tory candidate's fake election claims
The district council campaigns being run by the political parties make interesting reading, based on what I have seen in Alan Ferguson's adverts in the Hadleigh Community News, the Conservative leaflets, and the Lib Dems' and Greens' recent articles here in Nub News. These do show a marked contrast in approaches, which is good, but it is all downhill from there. Firstly, the Conservatives. They make some promises that can't be delivered and include some inaccurate claims.

Diversification and cooperation in a decarbonizing world: Climate strategies for fossil-fuel dependent countries
Countries’ attempts to tackle climate change will depend on their circumstances and capabilities. Among the most challenging, will be how fossil fuel–dependent countries (FFDCs) do so, given their economies are the most dependent on fossil-fuel income and carbon-intensive industries. These countries represent almost one-third of the world’s population.

Why Business Execs Need To Check Their Trust Level
"Trust is the lubricant that makes organizations run smoothly." That's what the late management and leadership guru, Warren Bennis, believed. Bennis wrote frequently about what makes organizations and their leaders effective. That analogy makes a lot of sense. I doubt many of us would disagree with it. Why then, do business executives rank so poorly in trust surveys? Nurses: Trusted; Executives: Not so Much Honesty and ethical behavior are fundamental to trust.

A brief history of preferring the unbelievable to the unthinkable
Makebelieve 10 Thinkbelieve 0 I was skim-reading idly through the UK Budget proposals in the early evening yesterday. Randy had released two multi-platinum records with Ozzy Ozbourne, and unfortunately, passed away in a tragic accident. Behind your back in the Budget
The news is still all about Covid19….and not the machinations behind it. Yesterday’s UK Budget showed, without any room for doubt, that common sense and Common Good in government have been abolished in favour of over-reaction to a microscopic health threat. Our “leaders” have wilfully invited disaster, and the citizenry have largely accepted it without question. Britain needs a functional Opposition, and fast.

By JOHN T. WARD Almost two months before she filed allegations of harassment by the town’s administrator, Red Bank’s personnel director was told her job was on the line, borough officials claim.
