It Happened in Connecticut (opinion): The day JFK came to New Haven Original

Kennedy was making a campaign stop in New Haven. It seemed like all of greater New Haven had turned out. The motorcade entered the center of the city via Whalley Avenue, and I was standing on Broadway, no more than 10 feet from the open car carrying JFK.

VA County Buys James River Former Plantation for $17 Million
The Interstate 295 Highway Bridge over the tidal James River is a spectacular piece of human engineering. Located 15 miles downstream of the fall line at Richmond, the views from the bridge naturally catch the eye of anyone crossing it. You might notice the river far below. But you might not know the centuries of history held by the property next to the river, the expansive Varina Farms. That situation is going to change.

With oysters thriving, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) believes oysters could play an even more expanded role in improving the health of the Bay ecosystem, while making our Bay more resilient to the changing climate and rising sea level.

Rescheduling medical marijuana opens Pandora’s box | OPINION
Picture this — hundreds of dispensaries closed in Colorado, people having to go to a local pharmacy to get their marijuana, then paying out of pocket because their drug insurance policy doesn’t cover it. Add to this, the loss to Colorado of hundreds of millions in annual tax revenue and tourism dollars. All of this could happen, if the proposed rescheduling of medical marijuana to DEA Schedule III is approved, a change supported by Attorney General Phil Weiser and Gov. Jared Polis.

Other fake job postings can also appear on social media profiles created to deceive job seekers.
Are There Bobcats In Silverton?
Usually the problems in my little community of Silverton, in the northeastern section of Toms River, are minor. Cracked sidewalks here, a burnt pizza there. Occasionally there is cause for alarm, like a couple of years ago when the Hookah parlor was shot up and someone was murdered. You can read the follow-up to that story here. Meanwhile, like most small, tight-knit communities these days, the bitching is usually done on social media. Revolving around bad restaurant reviews and crooked politicians.

Shut Down Gaslighting With These Phrases
“Gaslighting” is a word we hear quite often. It was even Merriam-Webster’s in 2022. According to Parade magazine, it’s also a “harmful behavioral pattern.” Dr. Michele Leno, Ph. D, LP, a licensed psychologist, told the magazine that gaslighting is a “manipulative tactic” used to “minimize, demean, or disregard” a person’s thoughts and feelings. Parade collaborated with psychologists to compile a list of phrases to shut down gaslighting. Gaslighting can be seen in social media and everyday life.
Big Drug Bust In Toms River
Just when you thought your neighborhood was safe, a story like this pops up. We all know drugs are everywhere! We try to shield our children from things that could cause them harm. With the border wide open and no one vetting all these people coming into our country, it’s hard to figure out which folks are real asylum seekers looking for a better life, and which ones are here to sell drugs to our children and other nefarious crimes.

The OFs are not too keen on all this virtual stuff and prefer an old-fashioned picnic

Some of the OGs are getting tired of looking like the latest bank robber when going out. Though most adhere to the protocols in effect with the mask and staying at least six feet from other people, the OFs are getting tired of it.
"An application of Zen philosophy to a modern conceptualization of lead" by John Williams
The purpose of this project is to determine what relationships, if any, exist between Zen Buddhism and modern conceptualizations of leadership.
