I am a freelance journalist, based in Queens, NY. Born and raised on Long Island, I studied journalism and politics at New York University, and my work focuses on criminal justice issues, class, urbanism, and how we collectively cope with the American system. I have reported abroad, from Cuba, Sweden, and Rio de Janeiro, before, during, and after the 2016 Summer Olympics. I can speak conversational Italian, and am currently learning Portuguese. I also shoot with a Nikon D3100 DSLR.

On eight separate occasions across June and July, the city tried out something new in midtown. The crosstown corridor of 42nd Street, from First to 12th Avenue, was turned into a dedicated bus-and-shuttle corridor — along with several smaller side streets and swaths of Fifth and Sixth Avenue, too. Streets around Penn Station were closed to vehicular traffic to accommodate crowds. And truck deliveries were banned from 30th to 60th Street, with restrictions lasting as long as 13 hours.
