Giant trampoline centre with Olympic-standard equipment opens at Festival Park

A dedicated trampoline gymnastics centre has opened in Stoke-on-Trent. Stoke Trampoline Gymnastic Club (STGC) has been running at various sports centres and schools for years and has more than 200 members. The club latterly ran from Trentham Academy but had restricted hours. Now it has its own brand new centre at Festival Trade Park off Crown Road, Festival Park, which is home to nine full-size Olympic trampolines and a huge foam pit.

Newcastle Home Bargains now open as shoppers queue for 8am launch

Discount giant Home Bargains has opened its latest North Staffordshire shop today - as shoppers queued up in their droves ahead of the 8am launch. The new store on Lyme Valley Road, in Newcastle-under-Lyme, features a café, bakery and garden centre. It will be known as Newcastle-under-Lyme 2 - with a Home Bargains branch already on Wolstanton Retail Park. The opening comes following a £3 million transformation of the former Homebase unit. Seventy-two jobs have been created.

Shop selling 'Stoke-on-Trent's freshest fruit and veg' shuts after 44 years

Popular greengrocers and florists Martin and Kerry Walker have closed their Stoke-on-Trent farm shop for the last time today. Martin, aged 63, has shut Walkers Farm Shop and Florists, in Hulton Street, Hanley, and retired. The building has been in his family since the 1930s when it was a grocer's shop. It became a farm shop in 1982 when Martin began working there. It was then he met 16-year-old Saturday girl, Kerry, whom he later dated and married.
