Jon Bream’s Biography

Jon Bream has covered popular music for the Minneapolis Star Tribune since 1974, giving him the second longest tenure of any current daily newspaper pop-music critic in the United States. He writes about all kinds of music but classical. He's the author of the biographies "Prince: Inside the Purple Reign," "Whole Lotta Led Zeppelin" and "Neil Diamond Is Forever." In addition to the Star Tribune, his reviews and features also have been published in numerous publications from the Los Angeles Times and Boston Globe to TV Guide and Entertainment Weekly. He has lectured on music and journalism at Boston University, NYU, University of Missouri and his alma mater, University of Minnesota, where he earned a BA in journalism. Some of his readers have suggested that he return to college for some music-appreciation classes.
