Efficient methods of isolation and purification of extracellular vesicles - Nano Convergence
Inertial microfluidics or nanofluidics is a technique that utilizes the inertial forces generated at the microscale to separate particles [149]. In this method, a specific flow velocity is induced in a small channel through which fluid flows, and particles are introduced into the fluid. Due to the diverse sizes and shapes of particles, they interact with the fluid flow and move either toward the channel walls or the center [150].

Whisper is a state-of-the-art model for automatic speech recognition (ASR) and speech translation, proposed in the paper Robust Speech Recognition via Large-Scale Weak Supervision by Alec Radford et al. from OpenAI. Trained on >5M hours of labeled data, Whisper demonstrates a strong ability to generalise to many datasets and domains in a zero-shot setting. Whisper large-v3-turbo is a finetuned version of a pruned Whisper large-v3.

Whisper is a pre-trained model for automatic speech recognition (ASR) and speech translation. Trained on 680k hours of labelled data, Whisper models demonstrate a strong ability to generalise to many datasets and domains without the need for fine-tuning. Dynamic changes in physical function during intensive chemotherapy affect transplant outcomes in older adults with AML
1 Introduction Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) remains a curative therapeutic approach for high-risk acute myeloid leukemia (AML); however, it is associated with high morbidity and mortality, particularly in older adults (1). However, the introduction of advanced supportive care and reduced-intensity conditioning has broadened access to allo-HSCT in older patients by reducing toxicity (2, 3).
Risk factors for thromboembolic events in patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH): a nested case-control study in the International PNH Registry (pdf) | Paperity
Annals of Hematology, Sep 2023 The objective of this analysis was to identify risk factors for thromboembolic events (TE) in patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) who were not treated with C5 inhibitors. Patients with PNH and a history of ≥ 1 TE at enrollment in the International PNH Registry (NCT01374360; registration date, January 2011) were each matched with up to 5 patients without TE.
[Between Us] More accessible, inclusive and relevant
Our Priorities in Action Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Toward a more accessible public broadcaster On May 29, we launched our first National Accessibility Plan, Breaking Barriers, which outlines how we can be the public service media organization that Canadians deserve. We hosted a discussion on the representation of people with disabilities in our content and the necessary measures to make it more accessible.
Frontiers | Comparative effectiveness of explainable machine learning approaches for extrauterine growth restriction classification in preterm infants using longitudinal data
1 Introduction Preterm infants are increasingly being diagnosed with extrauterine growth restriction (EUGR). EUGR refers to insufficient growth during hospitalization and represents a significant clinical challenge globally, particularly in preterm infants. The inadequate growth of EUGR can extend beyond the hospitalization period and have both short- and long-term implications, including growth failure (1), adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes (2), and cardiovascular risk (3).
The effect of backpack load on intersegmental motions of the foot and plantar pressure in individuals with mild flatfoot - Journal of Foot and Ankle Research
Study protocol This was a level III prospective case-control study. All study participants provided informed consent, and the study protocol was approved by our institutional review board. Forty-eight asymptomatic male volunteers between the ages of 20 and 28 years, considered as candidates for active military duty, were locally recruited.

The effects of a heating pad on anxiety, pain, and distress during urodynamic study in the female patients with stress urinary incontinence
Although generally well tolerated, a urodynamic study is an unpleasant and stressful procedure for some patients. This study evaluated the effects of a heating pad on anxiety, pain, and distress during urodynamic studies in female patients with stress urinary incontinence.
Outcomes of allogeneic stem cell transplantation in patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria with or without aplastic anemia
The aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term outcomes of allogeneic stem cell transplantation (SCT) in patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) with or without aplastic anemia (AA). A total of 33 patients with PNH clones who underwent allogeneic SCT were analyzed. After a median follow-up of 57 months (range, 6.0-151.3), the 5-year estimated overall survival rate was 87.9 ± 5.7%. Four patients died of transplant-related mortality (TRM).
