Introduction The annual influenza season runs from October through April/May each year. Pediatric offices increase the availability of acute/sick visits and walk-in appointments to accommodate parent and guardian concerns about fevers, coughs, runny noses, chills, and/or body aches. Clinicians provide information and encourage families to consider receiving the annual influenza vaccine to prevent infection and decrease disease severity.

Introduction The end of the summer and start to the fall means one thing for the general pediatrician—school physicals! Despite this creating some scheduling madness and endless school physical forms, I (LAA) look forward to this time as it is a chance to catch up with my patients, see what they have been doing during the summer months, and to make sure that we are starting the school year on a good foot.

Introduction As a general pediatrician, I (LAA) sometimes forget about including eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) on my differential diagnosis for a patient, perhaps because EoE can present clinically in a more heterogeneous, nonspecific way in children than in adult patients.
