The Adult Use of Marijuana Act, or Prop 64, legalizes the use of recreational marijuana for adults over 21 in California. However, it also comes with a tax – or taxes. Californians who purchase marijuana automatically pay a 15% excise tax on all cannabis sales, which is added on to state and local sales taxes.
