The Long Beach Current (formerly Daily Forty-Niner) is the longest-running student news publication at Long Beach State University and is the “paper of record” for the institution. As the most prolific news source on campus, the Current reporters continue to produce award-winning coverage of campus and city news and events. Bites at the Beach: Trying the new Marathon Burger
Marathon Burger restaurant is located in Downtown Long Beach on Pine Square on April 29. The burger place is founded by Samiel Asghedom the brother of late rapper Nipsey Hussle. The name, “Marathon,” pays homage to late rapper and activist Nipsey Hussle who passed away in 2019. One of his most famous mixtapes was titled, “The Marathon,” which was released in 2010.

BeachGo encourages carpooling, but student usage remains low
BeachGo is a free commuter application for Long Beach State students and employees looking to carpool. The app, launched in Feb. 2025, is meant to focus on cutting carbon emissions from those commuting to campus.
