MEAD, Wash. — The Spokane County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a woman was hit and killed by a school bus on Monday night. Deputies say the woman was in a crosswalk at the intersection of W. Hastings Road and W. Bellwood Drive, when she was hit by a Mead School District bus. The crash happened around 5:10 p.m. The woman was taken to a hospital but died from her injuries.

MEAD, Wash. — The Spokane County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a person was hit and killed by a school bus on Monday night. The Spokane County Medical Examiner identified the person killed as 20-year-old Eva Allen. The medical examiner said Wednesday the manner of Allen's death was ruled an accident, and the cause was blunt-force injuries.

Spokane fire displaces eight, sends one to hospital with serious injuries

SPOKANE, Wash. — Eight people have been forced out of their homes after a fire in Spokane's Hillyard Neighborhood on Saturday night. Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting out of the roof of the building, and called in a second alarm. Medics took one person to the hospital with serious injuries. The fire started around 4:30 p.m. on E. Broad Ave. near N. Regal St. It started in the lower level of the building, which has four units. The fire quickly spread to the upper floor and attic.
