PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - The Parkersburg Catholic Crusaders took care of business at home with an 8-0 win over the St. Marys Blue Devils in the first round of Class AA/A Region I. After taking a quick 1-0 lead, the Crusaders extended it with Jacob Price scoring a goal off a cross from Klay Cochran to make it 2-0. Parkersburg Catholic dominated the first half by consistently keeping the ball on its opponent’s side of the field.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - As the action heats up in the Mid-Ohio Valley, Week 9 of Football Frenzy was an exciting slate of games yet again. The Parkersburg Big Reds secured their first win against the Cabell Midland Knights since 2011. They won 27-20 at Stadium Field. In a Twin State League clash, the Fort Frye Cadets dominated the Warren Warriors to a 46-8 victory. The Williamstown Yellowjackets were involved in a shootout and came away with a 54-36 win against South Harrison.

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - The Marietta Lady Tigers fought hard, but were eliminated at home in a four-set loss to Sheridan in the Division III Region 11 sectional final. The visiting Generals took the first two sets, but in set three, Marietta got off to a hot start leading by as many as double digits. However, Sheridan put together a furious rally late with Drew Fox setting up Samantha Emmert for a point on a tip to make it 24-20 Lady Tigers.
