LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC/Gray News) - An 84-year-old man in Louisiana was arrested for allegedly creating and selling explosives from his home, according to deputies. On Oct. 2, detectives searched the home of John W. Sinkankas in relation to an ongoing joint investigation. Investigators say Sinkakas was manufacturing and selling explosive devices from his home, which is also 500 feet away from a school.
Buc-ee’s settles lawsuit with convenience store
(CNN) - Buc-ee’s and an Ohio convenience store chain have agreed to settle a trademark lawsuit. According to court records, in February, Buc-ee’s sued the owner of Mickey’s Convenience Stores, which has dozens of Ohio locations. Buc-ee’s claimed that the store chain’s name and logo, a smiling cartoon moose inside a red hexagon, are too similar to Buc-ee’s own name and trademark beaver logo. Mickey’s countersued in April. The terms of the settlement, reached Sept. 15, are confidential.

Man accused of shooting a New Matamoras elderly couple pleads not guilty
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) - The man accused of shooting an elderly couple in New Matamoras, killing one of them, was in court Wednesday. Baxter Grimes pleaded not guilty and reserved the right to pursue an insanity defense later. Indictment details There are 20 counts on the indictment. Count one charges aggravated murder, an unclassified felony, with two firearms specifications. The maximum penalty on that charge is life without parole.

VINCENT, Ohio (WTAP) - The Democratic candidate for Ohio’s 94th House District is joining a chorus of residents and officials who have called for a pause on the underground injection of oil and gas waste in Washington County. Tuesday night, 94th District candidate Wenda Sheard formally endorsed a moratorium on class II injection wells and laid out a five-part legislative agenda on the issue at a community meeting at the Barlow Branch Library.
‘That scares me a bit’: Bow hunter shot in chest by target shooter just days into hunting season
LANSING, Mich. (WILX/Gray News) - Days into bowhunting season in Michigan, questions about safety are being raised after a hunter was shot in the chest. The hunter was hit by an errant round from a target shooter while they were sitting inside a hunting blind, according to officials. The injured hunter ended up being taken to an area hospital. Brent Langenbacher, a lifelong hunter and manager at Moose Creek Sports, said what happened is concerning.
