California voters will decide on November 4 whether state lawmakers should temporarily control the redrawing of congressional maps, a proposal known as Prop 50 that could alter district boundaries and change representation in parts of the Central Valley and San Benito County. Monterey's Old Fisherman's Wharf celebrated its 180th anniversary with a community gathering that featured historic boats, live music, and a sea-life themed birthday cake. Wendy Brickman, president of the Fisherman's Wharf Association, said, "It is the heart of Monterey and one of the oldest attractions for sure, and one of the most popular attractions." Families packed the wharf on Sunday, enjoying scenic views, live music, and the smell of fresh seafood in the air.
