J.P. Lawrence’s Biography

I offer fiveyears of journalism experience, photography and social media proficiency, and a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.

I also bring a unique perspective as a Filipino immigrant to the United States and Army veteran who deployed to Iraq in 2009. I wrote on Ugandan contractors injured on American bases in Iraq, and the story won “Best Thesis Prize” at Columbia University and was published in The Intercept. I’ve also written for Buzzfeed, Pacific Standard, Christian Science Monitor and Westword.
