Ann Arbor (Informed Comment) – The multi-day funeral ceremonies for the assassinated leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, ended this past week with four stages. On Monday, enormous crowds staged a procession through Tehran. On Tuesday, Khamenei’s coffin was taken to the Iranian holy city of Qom, a center of seminary life. On Wednesday, it was taken to Najaf and Karbala in Iraq, where, again, huge crowds mourned the fallen cleric.
