Juan Miró’s Biography

Juan Miró is a tenured Professor and the Dick Clark Chair in Architecture at the School of Architecture of the University of Texas at Austin, where he has taught for 26 years and served as Associate Dean from 2014-18. Professor Miró is also an award-winning architect. He teaches architecture, urban design and Mexican architecture, culture, and history.

Professor Miró’s research interests cover issues at the intersection of cities, people, nature, and history. He is particularly interested in exploring how we can learn from history when facing current challenges.

His opinion pieces on these subjects have been published in El País (premier Spanish language newspaper) and in many U.S. outlets, including Houston Chronicle, The Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Texas Tribune and Austin American Statesman.

Miró emigrated from Spain 34 years ago. He is a dual citizen of Spain and the U.S.
