Man facing more than 20 animal cruelty charges takes plea deal in Lauderdale County

A man arrested on 23 animal cruelty charges in Lauderdale County back in July 2025 took a plea deal Thursday, according to newly filed court documents. In the deal, Steven Wade Reynolds pleaded guilty to only one count of animal cruelty and was sentenced to one year in prison. However, the plea deal states prison time is suspended in exchange for two years of probation.

Decatur man convicted of 2021 murder, drug trafficking sentenced to more than 100 years in prison

A Decatur man found guilty of murder and trafficking in methamphetamine was sentenced Tuesday to more than 100 years in prison, according to the Morgan County District Attorney's Office. The DA's office says Spencer Harwell was sentenced to 80 years for the murder charge and 60 years for the trafficking charge, and those sentences are to run concurrently with each other.
