Interview
What does it mean to be a journalist?
don't call myself a journalist. I'm an author/researcher/scientist. I strive to be just & objective, but don't believe in a view from nowhere
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter (@juliaserano)
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
"Transgender People, Bathrooms, and Sexual Predators: What the Data Say" comprehensively challenges baseless (& relentless) anti-trans claims
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
I've had numerous people ask me to write about my personal transgender story/narrative, despite those stories having been done to death.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That LGBTQ+ ppl are only qualified to write about LGBTQ+ issues. We're smart & knowledgeable & offer unique insights on all aspects of life.
