Biography

Julia Stein is a journalist, poet, literary critic, and non-fiction writer. She has written for Counterpunch, Rain Taxi, Village Voice, L.A. Weekly, American Book Review as well as worked for Arts Express on WBAI radio New York. She co-authored the book "Shooting Women: Behind the Camera, Around the World" and also published five books of poetry: What Were They Like, Walker Woman, Shulamith, Desert Soldiers, and Under the Ladder to Heaven. Broke nationally the Yvonne Wanrow story--she was convicted of murder when it was self-defense. On appeal she was found innocent.
