What was your first job as a journalist?
College sports writer - paid as a work/study program.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, in college! My son thinks they are vintage now.
How is social media changing news?
News comes faster, with news constantly changing. People need to do their research to determine "fake news" from real.

Why did you become a journalist?
I love to discover unique stories and destinations and share those perspectives with my readers.

Yes. In high school, I was a reporter. In college, I was a reporter and eventually editor. I was also editor of a literary magazine.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That bloggers want free stuff. Most of us work very hard and our time writing and our influence/social reach has value.
