I studied Psychology at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. I grew up outside Boston and spent my high school years in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire. ALS Nexus 2026: Changing the future of ALS ‘takes us all’

Researchers, physicians, industry partners, caregivers, and people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) are gearing up to gather for the third annual ALS Nexus conference, an effort from the ALS Association to bring the ALS community together around a shared goal of changing the future of ALS. The meeting will take place Aug. 23-26 in Orlando, Florida, with an option to attend virtually. Registration is free for people living with ALS and their caregivers.

I’m writing this column from one of my favorite places with two of my most beloved people. It’s an overcast morning here at my little creek house on the eastern shore of Maryland, and I’m nestled in a rocking chair with a cup of black coffee, something I would’ve done with my late husband, Jeff, before he died from ALS in May 2020. Beside me are Jeff’s brother Steve and my sister-in-law, Diane.
