A semi-empirical correlation for critical wind velocity in inclined mine roadways
Abstract In inclined roadways, the longitudinal wind speed required to suppress smoke back-layering varies with inclination. This study examines that variation using FDS critical-velocity results at 0°, 3°, 6° and 9°, together with reduced-scale experiments at 11 angles. The FDS threshold increased from 0.69 m/s at 0° to 1.83 m/s at 6°, then decreased to 0.81 m/s at 9°.
Risk factor analysis and development of a risk prediction model for facial pressure injury associated with noninvasive positive pressure ventilation in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease based on symptom science theory
Abstract Background: Noninvasive positive pressure ventilation is a key treatment for acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and is associated with a facial pressure injury incidence of 20% to 30%. However, current risk assessment still relies on generic tools such as the Braden scale, and there is a lack of risk prediction instruments that incorporate ventilation related respiratory mechanical parameters.

Nonreciprocal superconducting critical currents with normal state field trainability in kagome superconductor CsV 3 Sb 5
Abstract Determining time-reversal symmetry (TRS) and chirality in the superconducting state and its relation to normal-state symmetry and topology are important issues in condensed matter physics. Here, we report nonreciprocal superconducting critical currents (Ic) at zero magnetic field in kagome superconductor CsV3Sb5 nanodevices: Ic differs for opposite directions, indicating spontaneous TRS and inversion symmetry breakings.
Assembling a single active pocket from enzyme and metal modules for simultaneously catalyzing oxidation-reduction cascades
Abstract Chemoenzymatic cascades, which combine the merits of enzymatic catalysis and chemical catalysis, have blossomed into a powerful technology for new-to-nature reactions. The diffusion resistance of reaction intermediates is a major rate-limiting factor in cascade reactions, which can be reduced by integrating metal catalytic modules and enzymes in a single catalyst due to the proximity effect.
Accelerated discovery of highly active enzyme nanohybrids with parallelized Bayesian optimization in hybrid space - Nature Communications
Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly advanced protein engineering, enabling rapid enzyme evolution for diverse applications. However, the fragile nature of biomacromolecules requires enzyme immobilization to preserve catalytic activity under harsh industrial conditions, which often restricts substrate diffusion and reduces enzymatic activity. This challenge demands extensive trial-and-error experiments to optimize immobilized carriers with high activity for different enzymes.

Spatiotemporal inequality in land water availability amplified by global tree restoration - Nature Water
Abstract Afforestation can influence evapotranspiration (E) and precipitation (P), thereby altering water availability (known as P − E) on land. However, such effects on P − E have rarely been examined in the context of seasonal and spatial variations in background P − E conditions. Here we show the impacts of global tree restoration on P − E under spatiotemporally varying P − E conditions.

Charge-$4e$ and Charge-$6e$ Flux Quantization and Higher Charge Superconductivity in Kagome Superconductor Ring Devices
Popular Summary Superconductivity originates from the pairing up of electrons in what are called Cooper pairs. But theory also hints at fundamentally new types of superconducting states that could emerge from electron quartets (two Cooper pairs) or sextets (three Cooper pairs). Despite intensive theoretical studies, the basic properties of such states—and even the question of whether they exist—remain mysterious due to a lack of experimental evidence.
