Co-application of biochar and hydroxyapatite suppresses lead accumulation in rice via a soil–plant-microbe cascade
Abstract Stabilizing soil lead (Pb) with single amendments often requires a trade-off between immobilization durability and cost-effectiveness, restricting their large-scale use. Here, we demonstrate that co-applying hydroxyapatite (HAP) with either rice straw biochar (RBP) or maize straw biochar (MBP) overcomes these limitations through synergistic soil–plant-microbe interactions.
Small interfering RNA-mediated silencing of mutant NPM1 suppresses acute myeloid leukemia via reversing KAT7 and p300-mediated histone acetylation
Abstract NPM1 mutation (NPM1c)-driven acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is characterized by the sequestration of nuclear proteins and chromatin hijacking. Current treatment strategies targeting NPM1c AML are often indirect, which might lead to toxicity and resistance. In this study, we developed an allele-specific siRNA that selectively silences NPM1c while preserving the function of wild-type NPM1.
A lightweight physics-aware framework for multi-scale marine heatwaves forecasting

The impact of conversion feature on price discovery efficiency in the convertible bond market
Using data from Convertible bonds (CBs) issued by listed companies in China between 2019 and 2022, this study investigates the impact of the conversion feature on price discovery efficiency in the CB market. The empirical results show that permitting the conversion of CBs into shares significantly improves the efficiency of price discovery, both in terms of speed and degree. Further analysis reveals that liquidity plays a crucial role in driving this improvement.
Smart polysaccharide-based antifouling coating for surface management of urinary catheters
ABSTRACT Urinary catheters are associated with a high risk of bacterial infections and inflammation at the insertion site, leading to complications. These catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) are among the most common hospital-acquired infections, posing significant health risks and increasing healthcare costs. This study introduces a smart polysaccharide-based antimicrobial and self-cleaning coating for urinary catheters, designed to address these challenges.
Study on the explosion characteristics of hydrogen-blended natural gas by the vent size of explosion-venting interlayer within utility tunnels
ABSTRACT To mitigate the consequences of hydrogen-blended natural gas explosion accidents, this study established a simulated explosion-venting interlayer platform to systematically investigating the effects of vents with different sizes combined with porous materials on flame propagation and pressure suppression during hydrogen-blended natural gas explosions. The results demonstrate that porous materials effectively quenched flames at vents, achieving flameless venting.

Single atom catalysts for triiodide adsorption and fast conversion for boosted performance in aqueous zinc-iodine batteries
Single atom catalysts for triiodide adsorption and fast conversion for boosted performance in aqueous zinc-iodine batteries Zinc-iodine (Zn-I2) batteries are a practically promising energy storage because of low-cost, environmental ‘friendliness’ and attractive energy density. However, triiodide dissolution and poor conversion kinetics hinder application.
Long-term hypoxia and reoxygenation induced oxidative stress lead to immunosuppression and apoptosis in golden pompano (Trachinotus blochii)
1 Introduction The dissolved oxygen (DO) in water is a crucial ecological factor for aquatic aerobic species (Chen et al., 2017). Changes in DO are generally caused by environmental changes, as well as human activities (Tomanek, 2014; Levin and Breitburg, 2015; Pillet et al., 2016).
METTL3‐dependent m6A modification mediates bladder remodeling after partial bladder outlet obstruction through CCN2 activation
N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification is a critical posttranscriptional event in gene regulation. Thus, identifying methyltransferase, demethylase, or m6A binding protein-mediated m6A modifications in cancer or noncancer transcriptomes has become a promising novel strategy for disease therapy development. However, novel insights into m6A modification in partial bladder outlet obstruction (pBOO) and detailed information about the drivers of bladder remodeling remain to be elucidated.
Joint Optimization of Data Transmission and Energy Harvesting in Relay Satellite Networks
Abstract : Satellite network is considered a prominent architecture for future space-air-ground integrated networks, where the relay satellite network (RSN) plays an essential role in data transmission. However, the relay satellite network faces practical challenges. First, due to the dynamic network topology and limited resources such as storage capacity, antennas, and bandwidth, optimizing data transmission and resource allocation in a resource-constrained stochastic system is challenging.

Sexual size dimorphism in golden pompano (Trachinotus blochii): Potential roles of changes in energy allocation and differences in muscle metabolism
1 Introduction Sexual dimorphism defines the differences between the growth and reproduction of female and male individuals (Mei and Gui, 2015), and can be extended to the differences in the size, shape, behavior, color, and physiology of males and females (Wang et al., 2018).
Autofocusing by phase difference in reflective digital holography
Abstract In digital holography (DH), the quality of the reconstructed images relies on the accuracy of the reconstruction distance. Existing autofocusing approaches primarily determine the reconstruction distance by evaluating the sharpness of the features in reconstructed images under different reconstruction distances. The maximum sharpness corresponds to the optimal reconstruction distance. However, the existing approaches often fail for diffuse samples and specular ones with no features.

Rational Design of Single-Atom Catalysts for Electrochemical Ammonia Synthesis via a Descriptor-Based Approach Single-atom catalysts (SACs) have been studied widely in electrocatalysis towards renewable energy conversion. Herein, we present a general descriptor-based strategy for the rational design of SACs via density functional theory calculations.

JAG2/Notch2 inhibits intervertebral disc degeneration by modulating cell proliferation, apoptosis, and extracellular matrix
Abstract Background Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD)-related disorders are the major causes of low back pain. A previous study suggested that Notch activation serves as a protective mechanism and is a part of the compensatory response that maintains the necessary resident nucleus pulposus (NP) cell proliferation to replace lost or non-functional cells. However, the exact mechanism remains to be determined.

Highly Porous, Low Band-gap NixMn3-xO4 (0.55 ≤ x ≤ 1.2) Spinel Nanoparticles with In-situ Coated Carbon as Advanced Cathode Materials for Zinc-ion Batteries Aqueous Zinc ion batteries (ZIBs) are emerging as one highly promising alternative technology for grid-scale applications where high safety, environmental-friendliness, and high-specific capacities are needed. It remains a significant challenge, however, to develop a cathode with high rate capability and long-term cycling stability.
Septic patients in the intensive care unit present different nasal microbiotas
Sepsis is a serious public health problem with a reported mortality rate ranging from 10 to 55.7% [1–5]. The gut microbiota in patients with sepsis in intensive care units (ICUs) is currently receiving considerable attention [6,7]. However, the airway microbiome has been less extensively reported. Sepsis most often derives from the lungs [8]. Previous studies have reported that sepsis is related to lung microbial dysbiosis [9].

Probing Bitumen Liberation by a Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation
The detachment of bitumen from sand grains in oil sands processing is known as bitumen liberation. In this study, a quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM-D) was applied to study the bitumen liberation process under various process conditions. Bitumen was coated on the surface of silica sensors to simulate the oil sands ore. By recording the change of frequency and dissipation of the coated sensor, QCM-D allows for a real-time quantitative analysis of the bitumen detachment process.
